Welcome to my new ‘Momentum Moments’!

Summer is a busy time with holidays and special events. I was part of the Silly Boat Regatta this year and I am proud to tell you that our team - "Boat-a-lotta Rebels", won the trophy for 'most pledges by a team'! We raised over $3400 through donations and our Beer & Burger night. Thanks to all that contributed! Our team is captained by Michael Bortolotto - who used their services when he was a child. Supporting the Nanaimo Child Care Centre and all the wonderful things they do is a no-brainer for us, and it was a lot of fun too! Last year we took best team spirit trophy home - next year win the race? We will see! I want to share some financial tidbits and tips that hopefully you will find informative. They will be sent every couple of weeks. Enjoy the weather, have some fun, and I will see you out and about!

Aging parents – Are you ready?

As our parents move on in years, there will be a number of issues - both financial and non-financial- that we will have to deal with to ensure mom and dad are provided for in their old age.

With today’s medical advances, we are living longer. So what happens when they can't take care of themselves any longer? Quite often we're forced to step in and take over.

Do you know about your parents' financial situation? What type of care would be affordable if a parent has an accident or becomes ill? As kids, we may become the care giver and or being financially responsible for our parents.

In my experience the biggest concern is how best to approach them. If you think your parents might be offended or guarded try using an example from someone they know or showing them this article to start the conversation.

Yesterday’s planning may not meet tomorrow’s needs.

I am committed to helping people to ensure their choices, preserve their assets and maintain their financial independence.
